Eunice I. Hernández, ATC, LAT
Eunice Hernández is in her third year as the athletic trainer for the women's and men's cross country, track and field, and women's golf teams at Florida State University. Ms. Hernández completed her undergraduate degree at Barry University (Miami Shores, FL) in 1999 and attended graduate school at the University of Miami (FL). In her time at FSU, the men's track and field team has won the last 5 of 6 ACC Championships in Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field and the East Regional Championship in Outdoor Track and Field in 2005. In addition, the women's team finished second just a couple weeks ago at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Ms. Hernández also supervises four graduate assistant athletic trainers and a satellite athletic training room out of which seven intercollegiate sports teams train. She is involved in the Athletic Training curriculum at FSU as an Approved Clinical Instructor.
Tyler Peacock, USAW
Tyler is an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Florida State involved in track and field along with swimming and diving. He joined the staff full-time in 2005 after serving in a volunteer capacity since 2003. Tyler completed an undergraduate degree in exercise science with an emphasis in fitness from Florida State with plans to attend graduate school in sports management.
Bryan W. Smith, M.D., Ph.D., FAAP
Bryan is the medical consultant for the Atlantic Coast Conference and the editor of the ACC Sports Sciences website. Prior to his duties for the ACC, Dr. Smith was the Head Team Physician at the University of North Carolina for nearly ten years. He has authored approximately fifty scholarly articles and given more than sixty -five invited scholarly lectures. A pediatrician with a doctorate in exercise physiology, Dr. Smith is a past member of the American Board of Pediatrics, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and a charter member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He has served as the medical consultant to the NCAA Football Rules Committee, served on the NCAA Baseball Research Panel, and has been a past chairman of the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports. Currently, Dr. Smith is a member of the United States Lacrosse Sports Science and Safety Committee and a member of the North Carolina Medical Society's Sports Medicine Committee.
Melanie Wiener, M.S., R.D.
Melanie is a sports nutritionist at Florida State. She joined the staff in 2004. Melanie is a 2003 graduate of The Ohio State University receiving a BS degree in medical dietetics. She completed a masters degree in sports nutrition at FSU.
