James M. Bennett, M.D.
Dr. Bennett is currently a fellow at the UHZ Sports Medicine Institute in Miami, Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed an orthopedic residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He currently assists with University of Miami sports.
Kevin Blaske, MS, ATC/L
Kevin is in his 6th season as the athletic trainer for the baseball team at the University of Miami. Prior to coming to the University of Miami, he worked five years in minor league baseball. He has also worked with professional basketball players, high school athletes and the general athletic population. Kevin also works with the football team and women's rowing team at the University of Miami.
Lisa Dorfman, MS, RD, LMHC
Ms. Dorfman is a sports nutritionist with the University of Miami Athletic Department. She is a registered dietician and adjunct professor in the Univeresity of Miami's Department of Exercise Science
James L. Goins, MS, CSCS, CSCC
Coach James Goins graduated in 1998 from LSU with a BS in Kinesiology. While attending, LSU served as an undergraduate assistant strength coach. He also did internships at Galye Hatche's Olympic Training Center and Kurt Hester's Speed and Performance Center. He attended the University of Tennessee and graduated in 2000 with a MS in Sport Management and MS Minor in Nutrition. While at Tennessee, he served as a graduate assistant strength coach with primary emphasis as the sport nutritionist. Coach Goins worked for the Cincinnati Reds AA affiliate, the Chattanooga Lookouts, as the head strength coach. He worked at the University of San Diego as an asistant strength coach and director of the JCP Fitness Center. Coach Goins is currently working as an assistant strength coach in charge of baseball at the University of Miami. Coach Goins holds certifications from the CSCCa, NSCA, and American Red Cross.
Bryan W. Smith, M.D., Ph.D., FAAP
Bryan is the medical consultant for the Atlantic Coast Conference and the editor of the ACC Sports Sciences website. Prior to his duties for the ACC, Dr. Smith was the Head Team Physician at the University of North Carolina for nearly ten years. He has authored approximately fifty scholarly articles and given more than sixty -five invited scholarly lectures. A pediatrician with a doctorate in exercise physiology, Dr. Smith is a member of the American Board of Pediatrics, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and a charter member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He has served as the medical consultant to the NCAA Football Rules Committee, served on the NCAA Baseball Research Panel, and has been a past chairman of the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports. Currently, Dr. Smith is a member of the United States Lacrosse Sports Science and Safety Committee and a member of the North Carolina Medical Society's Sports Medicine Committee.
