GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke men's basketball player Nolan Smith has a special bond with associate head coach Johnny Dawkins. Dawkins was a good friend and Philadelphia 76ers teammate of Nolan's father, the late Derek Smith, who played on the 1980 University of Louisville National Championship team and played for nine years in the NBA.
