GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Maurice DeBerry and Mike Finn have been chosen to fill the positions of Assistant Commissioner and Chief Financial Officer with responsibilities for finance and operations and Assistant Commissioner for External Relations, respectively, Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced today.
DeBerry replaces Bradley Faircloth who recently retired from the ACC staff, and Finn will replace Rick Chryst who was named the commissioner of the Mid-American Conference last summer.
Swofford said that DeBerry will oversee the ACC's finance department which handles all budget and financial concerns within the Conference headquarters. Finn's primary responsibilities will be in public relations as well as directing the league's marketing and promotion efforts.
DeBerry comes to the ACC after seven years at United Guaranty Corp. of Greensboro. While with United Guaranty, he served most recently as the managing director of the Capital Markets Group, and was responsible for all asset securitization, which included new origination, secondary market purchases and whole loan acquisitions. Prior to that, he was the director of structured transactions for the same Capital Markets Group, handling responsibility for soliciting, negotiating and pricing all MBS transactions with issuers, investors and mortgage companies.

Finn has worked in the ACC for the past 22 years at NC State and Georgia Tech, with the last 16 as the Director of Athletic Communications at Georgia Tech. During his tenure at Georgia Tech, he oversaw the operations of the school's Sports Information Office and the Athletic Video Department, serving as the liaison for all television and radio coverage for the Athletic Department. Along with his responsibilities in the Georgia Tech Athletic Association, Finn also served as press venue chief for aquatics during the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga., and assisted in the preparation of the Bid for Atlanta to receive the 2007 NCAA Men's Final Four.
Regarding the hiring, Commissioner Swofford commented, "We are very pleased to welcome both Maurice and Mike to the ACC staff this year. Both bring with them a great deal of experience in their respective fields and we feel that their talents will be assets not only to our office staff but to the Atlantic Coast Conference as a whole."
