CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference crowned a new women's tennis champion Sunday afternoon.

Fourth-seeded Miami became the fifth program to win the ACC Women's Tennis Championship when it defeated No. 7 seed Florida State, 4-1, Sunday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina after rain at Cary Tennis Park forced play to move indoors.

The Hurricanes, who were making their fifth championship final appearance, earned the doubles point and three singles wins to take the ACC trophy to Coral Gables with them. Sophomore Lina Lilekite was named the tournament's most valuable player. The sophomore from Liepaja, Latvia earned two singles wins during the tournament, including an upset of North Carolina's No. 36 Whitney Kay in the Hurricanes' 4-3 semifinal win over the top-seeded Tar Heels.
