ACC Softball Student-Athletes Receive NFCA All-Region Recognition

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A total of nine softball student-athletes representing six Atlantic Coast Conference schools have been honored as members of the 2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s Division I All-Region teams, which were announced today by the NFCA.

Three ACC student-athletes earned first-team honors in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Virginia Tech’s Kylie McGoldrick and Courtney Liddle, and Virginia’s Melanie Mitchell garnered the region’s top accolades.

Virginia Tech, which advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Championship and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, had a league-high three players recognized. Two Florida State players were named to the Southeast Region Second Team, and one each from Georgia Tech, Maryland, NC State, and Virginia were honored.

The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2013 NFCA Division I All-American teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added for All-America consideration.
