Walz, Moore and Turner Help U.S. U-18 Team Win FIBA Americas Title

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Louisville head coach Jeff Walz and freshman Mariya Moore, and Notre Dame freshman Brianna Turner helped the U.S. U-18 Women’s National Team to win five straight games, including a 104-74 triumph over Canada to win the FIBA Americas Championship on Aug. 10. The title is the seventh straight for the U.S. in the FIBA Americas U-18 Championship.

Walz served as an assistant coach for the team, while Moore totaled 33 points, 16 rebounds, 20 assists and nine steals over the five games.  Notre Dame’s Turner started in all five games and averaged 13.6 points and 5.4 rebounds with a .600 field goal percentage. 

The U.S. topped Mexico (104-55), El Salvador (118-50), Canada (107-76), Argentina (97-51) and Canada (104-74) to qualify for the the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship in Russia.
