Florida State’s Dressel, Sankovich Earn ACC Swimming Honors

Duo Helps ‘Noles Sweep First Weekly Awards
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Following the opening weekend of the 2013-14 swimming and diving season, Florida State’s Kaitlyn Dressel and Pavel Sankovich swept the Atlantic Coast Conference’s weekly awards, as Dressel was named ACC Female Swimmer of the Week and Sankovich was tabbed ACC Male Swimmer of the Week.
Swimming against Florida, Florida Southern, Nova Southeastern and Miami at the All-Florida Invitational, Sankovich turned in four second-place finishes on the weekend, while earning an NCAA B standard in the 100 back with a time of 48.13. In addition, the Hronda, Belarus, native contributed in four relay events, including turning in the fastest split for the backstroke in the 200 medley relay by nearly six-tenths of a second.
Against Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, Miami, Florida Southern, North Florida and Nova Southeastern, Dressel turned in two individual first-place finishes at the All-Florida Invitational. In addition, she helped the Seminole relays to three second-places and a pair of thirds. On the final day of the grueling meet, Dressel swam three 100 frees, all under the 50-second barrier, turning in her best swim during the final heat of the event with a time of 49.50.
