Yellow Jackets look to nab program’s 15th team title

NEW LONDON, N.C. (theACC.com) – In picture-perfect conditions at the Old North State Club, the Georgia Tech men’s golf team moved into first place of the 2014 ACC Men’s Golf Championship, in search of the program’s 15th team title.  

All five Yellow Jackets shot even-par or better on the day, led by junior Ollie Schniederjans.  The Powder Springs, Ga. native maintained his spot atop the individual leaderboard carding a two-under in the second round.  

Junior Anders Albertson led Georgia Tech for day two, using six birdies to card a four-under 68.  

Florida State also had a strong performance on day two, with all five golfers carding 72 or better.  The 2013 ACC Freshman of the Year Hank Lebioda had two birdies in the second round and sits in third place.  

Along with Lebioda, Jack Maguire and Cristobal Del Solar (tied for ninth) each registered scores that placed amongst the top 10 after 36 holes.  

Wake Forest’s Davis Womble recorded the only eagle on the day, needing just three strokes on hole 11.  He finished the day at even-par, while fellow Demon Deacon Clancy Waugh had the lowest score on the day, carding a five-under.  

With Georgia Tech (566) in the lead, Friday’s leader, Florida State (568), sits in second place.  Clemson (570) is in third, followed by Wake Forest (573), Notre Dame (581), Virginia Tech (582).  Rounding out the field is Virginia (586), North Carolina (586), NC State (589), Boston College (591), Maryland (593) and Duke (594).  

The third and final round of the 2014 ACC Men’s Golf Championship is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.  

Sunday’s third round action will be available via live stream on theACC.com beginning at 2:00 p.m.
