Series Features Unique Stories with Some of the Biggest Names in ACC Basketball
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The season premiere of the Emmy Award-nominated ACC Network syndicated series, “ACC Basketball: Kings of the Court,” will begin airing this weekend throughout the month of January. Hosted by former University of Virginia star and 8-year NBA guard, Cory Alexander, the series is syndicated throughout the ACC Network in 84 television markets.
Nominated for the prestigious Emmy Award for Best Sports Series in each of its first two seasons, “Kings of the Court” is dedicated to spotlighting the continued tradition of excellence that is Atlantic Coast Conference basketball. The series, three monthly half-hour shows, goes beyond the game to tell the unique story of a player or coach, and how they made a name for themselves in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The first show of 2014 spotlights Chris Paul. The former All-American point guard from Wake Forest, Paul is a six-time NBA All-Star, now playing for the Los Angeles Clippers. Catch up with Paul back home in Winston-Salem as he runs his youth basketball camp. Then see how he and his family spend quality time together over the sport of bowling. And learn how he honors his grandfather, who was tragically killed the day after Paul signed his letter of intent for Wake Forest.
Then spend time with former Florida State great Charlie Ward. The 1993 Heisman Trophy Winner as quarterback for the National Champions Seminoles, Ward was also a star point guard for the FSU basketball team. Drafted in 1994 in the first round by the New York Knicks, Ward enjoyed an 11-year NBA career. Now after retiring from the NBA, we head to Texas to see that Ward is back n the football field as varsity head football coach of a high school in Houston.
