ACC Mascots Participate in Outreach during ACC Football Championship Game

League mascots to visit Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools, children’s hospital on Dec. 6.
CHARLOTTE, NC – The Atlantic Coast Conference mascots will visit Nations Ford Elementary School (9:00-9:45 a.m.), Northeast Middle School (10:30-11:15 a.m.) and Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital (2:00-3:30 p.m.) on Friday, Dec. 6 as part of an outreach initiative for the 2013 ACC Dr Pepper Football Championship Game. Also joining the ACC mascots will be 2013 ACC Football Award Winners. During the visit, a presentation of the mascots and award winners will take place and children will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with their favorite ACC mascots.
Nations Ford Elementary School was recognized as a National School of Character by receiving the Promising Practices Award for the 2012-2013 School Year. The Title I Elementary School, with a culturally diverse population that continues to meet overall academic growth, focuses on an enriched learning environment with emphasis on 21st century technology integration in classroom instruction to prepare students for global competitiveness.
Student learning is the top priority at Northeast Middle School. Staff, parents and the Northeast Middle community work to maintain a learning environment that promotes citizenship, responsibility and positive choices. In addition, Northeast students can get involved in extracurricular activities, including National Academic League, yearbook or Student Council. The school also offer extended student services through KinderMourn, Mi Casa, Su Casa, Right Choices, and our ‘Brother to Brother’ program.
“I want to thank the ACC for including Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in its outreach project,” said Dr. Deb Kaclik, director of arts, health, physical education, and PreK-12 curriculum support programs. “The mascots and football players will help to promote school spirit, pride and teamwork as the students and staff support a positive and safe, school climate for learning."

2013 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship: The 2013 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game will be played Dec. 7 at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium. The game will kick off at 8 p.m. on ABC and will feature the Atlantic Division Champion, Florida State, against the Coastal Division Champion, Duke.
