Seven ACC Teams Ranked in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Women’s Soccer Preseason Top 25

North Carolina begins the 2013 season as the No. 1 team in the nation

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - Twenty-two time national champion North Carolina leads a group of seven ACC teams ranked in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Women’s Soccer Preseason Top 25.
The Tar Heels are ranked No. 1, while four other ACC squads are among the poll’s top-10, including Florida State at No. 3, Duke at No. 7, Virginia at No. 8 and ACC newcomer Notre Dame at No. 10.
Wake Forest is ranked No. 15 and Maryland No. 17, while Boston College and Virginia Tech are receiving votes. The strong preseason showing follows a 2012 postseason that saw the ACC match its record of nine teams in the NCAA Championship field for the second straight year.
Notre Dame, which will begin its inaugural season as a member of the ACC, advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2012 NCAA Championship.
The 2013 season gets under way Friday, August 23, with 13 of the ACC’s 14 teams scheduled to see action. ACC play starts on Thursday, Sept. 12.
